Edinburgh Inspiring Capital Yacht to visit Ocean Terminal : 8-17 August

Inspiring Capital Clipper Entrant Edinburgh Inspiring Capital, the Edinburgh entry in the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race will be spending a week in the city ahead of the 35,000-mile race that will showcase the city to a global audience.

Edinburgh Inspiring Capital will be one of ten identical, stripped down 68-foot racing yachts taking part in the 10 month race which starts on September 13 from Hull, the only round the world challenge ‘raced by people like you'. Taxi drivers rub shoulders with chief executives, vicars mix with housewives, students work alongside bankers, nurses work with vets and doctors team with rugby players and it will be an experience that will change people's lives.

While the crews may be amateur, no one has told the oceans that! The sea does not distinguish between Olympians or novices and if the Southern Ocean, the Pacific or the South Atlantic decides to throw down its gauntlet, the Clipper crews need to be ready to face exactly the same challenges as those experienced by the professional racer.

During Edinburgh Inspiring Capital's week long visit  there are a number of events and tours open to the public so you can see for yourself the conditions on board and the challenges the intrepid Edinburgh Inspiring Capital crew will face. The yacht will be berthed next to the Royal Yacht Britannia at Ocean Terminal during her visit.
