CowParade Edinburgh - 25/05/2006

School children admiring a festival cow

What? Well, it's been described as the biggest public art event in the world. We were delighted to bring it to Edinburgh in 2006 and everyone loved it! No event has ever generated as much positive media coverage. With Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian and Mountgrange plc , we made it happen.

A whole load of life size fibreglass cows dotted around the city, decorated by artists, community groups and others. It certainly captured people's imagination, including the Captain of HMS Edinburgh which set sail from the Port of Leith with one of our cows strapped to the deck! More than that, the Cow Auction at the end raised around £250,000, split between the Lord Provost's One City Trust and VETAID.

You'll still see two of our cows on the flat roof spaces of the Council's new HQ on Market Street.

"Cowparade Edinburgh is the result of productive and creative relationships between many different people organisations in Edinburgh who have made this amazing event happen . Thank you"Charles Langhorne, Managing Director, CowParade Europe
