Golden Oldies Rugby Festival - 01/09/2008
The Air New Zealand Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival was held in Edinburgh from 1 – 8 September 2008. The Golden Oldies World Rugby Festivals are developed especially for players aged 35 years and over with the focus on participation rather than winning and each festival aims to ensure maximum enjoyment, community participation and new experiences for all involved. The philosophy is all about “Fun, Friendship and Fraternity” which is central to the sport and to the participants. The event attracted 127 teams from 19 countries around the world. This equates to 3,000 players, family and friends.
"(The Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival 2008) was a beauty and in no small measure due to the City Council and Local Organising Committee’s fantastic efforts to deliver what was an extremely successful event!" – Paul Tibbutt – Events Manager, Air New Zealand.
