Venue Description
Named after the founder of the Edinburgh brewing firm the McEwan Hall is a magnificent and opulent example of the 19th century architecture. Originally the main civic hall for Edinburgh it is now used for graduations, concerts, public occasions and city functions. The D-shaped building incorporates two semi-circular galleries which are served by two ingenious staircases forming a double-helix. the Hall can seat up to 1100 for conferences, meetings and performances in a tiered auditorium. The huge empty hall can be very flexible with regard to usage.
Area/Location Description
Centrally located the McEwan Hall is easily accessible from Waverly Station. The McEwan Hall is one of the largest and most historic buildings available on the Fringe. Facing onto Bristo Square and the E4 Udderbelly with The Reid Hall/Underbelly Cow Barn, Teviot House/The Gilded Balloon and Potterow/The Pleasance also surrounding the Sqaure and with George Square Gardens with the Famous Spiegeltent just around the corner, the McEwan Hall is firmly located in the heart of Fringe activity.
