Venue Description

A new and exciting space which brings character and style to your events and productions in the Old Town. We can cater for events looking for a big empty room to a fully functional theatre and everything inbetween! Roxy Central is a classic Church-style space, retaining many of its original features from its days as a Church. It is now a large open space with a stage/altar at one end and a bar at the other. It is large enough to accommodate a variety of events and styles - fairs, conferences, readings, weddings, meetings, performances, dance classes, the list is endless! Seated capacity approximately 250; standing approximately 400. Roxy Upstairs is a studio theatre with a capacity of up to 200 that is perfect for rehearsals, auditions and, of course, performance in a traditional, end on, black box theatre set-up. Roxy Downstairs, located in the basement of the venue, provides a perfect break out space from activities in Central. It is also a great room on its own for smaller events, conferences, performances, rehearsals and corporate functions with an approximate capacity of 60. It is located right next to the Snug Bar giving it easy access to drink facilities for functions. The Snug Bar, as the name suggests, is a cosy nook in the basement of the building for casual functions, small scale performances such as readings, open mic and get-togethers. Fitted out with chesterfield sofas, low ceilings and located adjacent to the bar, it's the perfect space for those with artistic vision who want to test new ground in an intimate atmosphere.
