Join in with a celebration of all things mechanical from monster trucks to nano technology and traction engines to training aircraft. The National Museum of Flight will be filled with classic cars, motorbikes and tractors all lovingly prepared by their owners and brought along for you to see.Big Pete, Europe's largest monster truck, will return this year for another car crushing extravaganza. Two shows will take place on each day at 12:00 and 15:00. Watch as the ‘Big Pete' and its partner ‘Grim Reaper' wow the crowds as only they can.
At 13:30 our parade of steam traction engines, racing cars, scooters and more - will go around the site so that you can see these mechanical marvels in action.
In the Tech Tent meet research engineers who will wow you with talks, workshops and things to see and try relating to the cutting edge of technology. From wave power to medicine delivered by nano bubbles and fossil bird brains to cruise missiles the world of the future will be revealed. This tent is made possible by an Ingenious Grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Family fun will include building your own toys from recycled materials, technical challenges and making things that fly.
There will also be a chance to look around our own collection of Magnificent Machines and to see Concorde the most magnificent machine of all.
