Edinburgh’s Georgian Shadows is an innovative lighting event that will give a glimpse of Georgian residents and highlight important architectural features in the streets of Edinburgh’s New Town this February and March. In St Andrew Square a lumière display will tell the story of the New Town plan with a stunning digital fly-through recreating how it looked when first built .
Seven historical buildings will come to life through a varied series of creative silhouettes and light projections. Each building will tell a different story of Edinburgh’s past as viewers experience the architectural highlights in a new way and peek into the lives of the city’s first inhabitants. The event will run from February 23 to March 26 2017 and stretch from St Andrew Square to Charlotte Square.
This exciting addition to Edinburgh’s calendar of events in 2017 will officially kick off the 250th anniversary of Edinburgh’s New Town, a centrepiece of Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage designation, and be an enchanting addition to the normally dark winter nights. It is a signature event of the Year of History, Heritage & Archaeology 2017.
