Event Details

The acclaimed and award-winning Edinburgh based folk, roots and bluegrass collective Southern Tenant Folk Union are touring with their brand new uptempo and political seventh album Join Forces. A recent review said ‘this is vivid contemporary folk – aware of its political heritage all the way back through Woody Guthrie and beyond, bringing together disparate but still related musical forms in bluegrass and Scottish folk, and never less than intelligent and stirring in its social commentary’.

Their albums have been praised in The Guardian, Herald, Independent, Sunday Times, Q, Mojo, Uncut and Irish Times. Often heard on national radio shows, most recently on Mark Radcliffe’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Show and BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq Show, they have performed live in session on BBC Radio 2, Radio 4’s Loose Ends, BBC One TV’s ‘The Andrew Marr Show’ and RTE One national TV’s ‘Late Late Show’. Their concerts are exciting, engaging and in their hands ‘bluegrass can effortlessly be blended with other genres –folk, roots, Americana - to make a potent, timeless sound’.
