On Sunday September 24th, 3.30 PM, the Australian Rockhampton Big Band and the Scottish Leith Community Concert Band will give a free joint performance in the Main Hall.

The concert will see Big Band style music as well as traditional Scottish music in what we think is a first and will hopefully give a unique experience.


The Rockhampton Big Band in fact the Big Band of a high school from Rockhampton, Queensland called The Rockhampton Grammar School Big Band. They will perform a varied repertoire in Big Band style. To name a few titles: Send in the Clowns, Uptown Funk, All about the Bass, Dream a Little Dream and many more. The band is made up of about 20 high school kids and 6 staff members. They perform on a regular basis back in Australia and this concert is part of their third international tour. Director and Conductor is Mr. John Evenhuis.


The Leith Community Concert Band is from Leith, Scotland. This traditional Scottish Band was formed in 1986 by Fredreick Frayling-Kelly. The band has a great heritage and years of experience. They perform nationally as well as internationally. They have also played many times at the war remembrance events in Ypres, Belgium. Director is Mr. Tommy Carr.
