Event Details

EUCC presents a celebration of European choral music from across the centuries. Palestrina's delicate 8-part setting of the 'Stabat Mater', Mary's lament at the foot of the cross, complements Arnold Bax's setting of the old English carol, 'Mater ora filium'. The Austrian composer Hans Gál lived and worked in Edinburgh having escaped his homeland shortly before World War Two. His virtuosic Motette from 1924 is coupled with 'As de cantar', a jubilant setting of Galician poetry by the young English composer Daniel Saleeb, written for the BBC Singers in 2015.
