Event Details

Following the great success of Edinburgh Studio Opera's run of shows in 2009, including Mozart's 'La Clemenza di Tito' and a dazzling fully staged 'Carmina Burana' in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this young and brilliant company returns to the newly reburbished Pleasance Theatre to perform Leoš Janáček's 'The Cunning Little Vixen.'

An opera that is often viewed as a Czech version of Shakespeare's masterpiece A Midsummer Night's Dream, Janáček's 'The Cunning Little Vixen' is widely recognised as one of his most touching and inventive operas. The ingenious story was inspired by a 1920s comic strip in a local newspaper and tells the adventures of Vixen Sharp-Ears in a world populated by humans, forest and barnyard animals. It is one of the 20th century's most musically exquisite and imaginative excursions into a fantasy.
